Board of Directors Election Results
Five chamber members were elected at the Annual Meeting to serve on the Board of Directors for terms beginning February 1, 2010 and ending January 31, 2013. Elected to the Board were Frank Flaherty, ServiceMaster of Alexandria; Jay McConville, Chandler/May; Casey Nolan, Clark Pinnacle Family Communities; Daniel F. Rinzel, Redmon, Peyton & Braswell LLP; and Vanessa Wheeler, Holly Woods & Vines.
Education Partnership Scholarship Applications Now Available
The Mount Vernon-Lee Chamber or Commerce is please to announce that the 2010 Education Partnership Scholarships for graduating high school seniors pursuing further education in a business related field are now available.
Do you know a high school senior who plans to pursue further education in a business related field? Please forward this information to them or click here to download a scholarship application.
Six scholarships will be awarded in the amount of $2,000 each. These scholarships are open to all students living in Mount Vernon and Lee Districts. To apply for the scholarship, students must have a minimum high school GPA of 3.0 and plan on pursuing further education in a business related field. Applications are available at www.MtVernon-LeeChamber.org, in high school career centers, or may be requested by calling 703-360-6925. Applications must be received by the Mount Vernon-Lee Chamber of Commerce by Friday, April 24.
For the past ten years, the Chamber of Commerce has invested in the future through its scholarship fund, awarding more than $60,000 in scholarship money to graduating high school students in Mount Vernon and Lee Districts.
These scholarships are funded by money raised at the Chamber's annual Golf Classic Tournament, sponsored by Clark Family Communities and Hilltop Golf Club, and through the generous contributions of Chamber members and businesses in the Mount Vernon and Lee Districts.
