    RE-SCHEDULED FROM MARCH

What does Amazon HQ2 mean for Fairfax County? This exciting economic development opportunity at National Landing will have a big impact on Mount Vernon and Lee Districts potentially affecting educational opportunities, housing, transportation, and infrastructure.

Come hear from Brian Moore, a Senior Manager for Public Policy at Amazon, about HQ2 and plans to bring jobs and development to Northern Virginia.

David Baker, Virginia Tech Community Liaison, will also discuss the Innovations Campus. The Innovation Campus was announced in November as part of a comprehensive higher-education package that was cited as a key reason Amazon selected Northern Virginia for a new headquarters site. It will bolster the region’s technology workforce and ignite the region’s economy.

In 2015 Crystal City lost 14,000 jobs from BRAC and the relocation of defense agencies. Many of those jobs came to Fort Belvoir. Now, Amazon's HQ2 will bring about 25,000 jobs to Northern Virginia over ten years. This will backfill some of the loss from BRAC plus bring additional jobs to Crystal City.

The Richmond Highway brand is growing. Alexandria City has renamed the part of Route One going through the city to "Richmond Highway." Arlington County plans to do the same. Richmond Highway will then stretch through Fairfax County, Alexandria City, and Arlington County.
